Description

This dynamic and empowering workshop enables venue teams to lead from the front in tackling Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG). Using real-life scenarios, interactive group exercises, and practical venue-based activities, participants will build the confidence and clarity to spot the signs of harmful behaviour, step in safely, and put safeguarding policies into meaningful action. Designed to turn policy into practice, the session helps staff embed a culture of respect and zero-tolerance into every shift, from visible signage and clear reporting pathways to confident staff briefings and smart venue design. Together, we’ll explore how to create safer spaces by building trust, sharing responsibility, and leading with care.

Objectives

– Understand the scope and impact of VAWG in night-time settings
– Identify warning signs of harassment and unsafe behaviours
– Apply the bystander intervention model with confidence
– Know how to respond to both victims and perpetrators of harassment
– Define key safeguarding roles (e.g. Night Safe Champion, Welfare Officer)
– Review and strengthen venue policies on VAWG and sexual harassment
– Improve reporting procedures for staff and customers
– Increase staff confidence through consistent briefing and training
– Communicate zero-tolerance clearly through signage and briefings
– Build stronger local partnerships to support VAWG prevention
