Description

This engaging, hands-on workshop will help venue teams embed strong safeguarding and harm reduction practices into everyday operations. Through real-world examples, group work, and scenario-based activities, participants will build confidence to take the lead on safety and strengthen partnerships that support a respectful and inclusive night-time environment.

Objectives

– Recognise different types of incidents in a night-time venue
– Understand why effective reporting matters – legally, ethically, and operationally
– Learn how to complete incident reports and dynamic risk assessments
– Identify ‘hotspots’ and triggers in their venue and how to manage them
– Define key staff roles (e.g. Night Safe Champion, Welfare Officer)
– Understand how to create safe, visible, and inclusive spaces for customers
– Learn how to work with local partnerships and safety schemes
– Leave with practical tools to embed safeguarding policy into daily practice
